What We're Trying to Do
If you’re visiting this site, you’re probably wondering what Team MT is trying to do and how we’re trying to do it. This post should answer most of your questions.
Team MT is riding in the Holland Hundred (Century) on July 16. For those of you who don't know, a "century" is a 100-mile bike ride in one day, something many cyclists aspire to. I’ve never done one personally, though I’m excited by the challenge of it.
The team is riding to support The Sparrow’s Nest, an American non-profit organization committed to meeting the needs of orphaned, abandoned, and neglected children in the former Soviet Union. The Sparrow’s Nest reaches out to children ages birth through eighteen. At the present time the center for outreach is located in the former Soviet republic of Latvia where the ministry has two orphanages and two Family and Child Crisis Centers in development. The Sparrow’s Nest helps to bring healing to each child’s emotional, mental, and physical health. The organization then works to find, encourage, and support adoptive parents. More than 50% of The Sparrow’s Nest’s children have been placed in loving families in the past 12 months.
Denali Flavors, the makers of Moose Tracks ice cream, is the team’s main sponsor. Team Moose Tracks hopes to raise money in support of The Sparrow’s Nest through team members raising funds (pledges) as well as corporate/church sponsorships/donations.
So that’s what we’re up to. If you’d like to join our team or donate to the cause, send us an email.
